CHICK-FIL-A

If you know me well, this one is no surprise. One of my ULTIMATE favorite things is the true one and only…Chick-Fil-A. Yes, that’s right…a fast food restaurant. I cannot recall the first time I ever dipped a chicken nugget in the infamous BBQ sauce, or drank their delicious, thick chocolate milkshakes but my guess would be when I was in second grade. Living in Atlanta, GA for the majority of my life thus far, I frequently went to the Chick-Fil-A located on Northside Parkway, which was conveniently located on the same block as my school, and was approximately 7 minutes from my house. It was in high school when I began to visit this particular Chick-Fil-A around three times a week. But it wasn’t until college that it would easily become three times a day. Yes, this is a sad reality, and slightly embarrassing…but it’s the truth. I even have a little friend, Brenda, who continuously asks how school is going and welcomes me with a hug. I have even introduced her to my friends, and she is the sweetest thing and always gives a friendly little hello!
Chick-Fil-A could easily be located in the dictionary under the word “perfect.” I wouldn’t be surprised if one day I was flipping through the Webster’s Dictionary and saw it there. It is the perfect place to have lunch with girlfriends to talk about the night before, or pick it up on a busy day and receive a friendly “my pleasure” after you finish ordering through the drive-thru. Although it’s necessary and the workers must say it…it always surprises me and brings a little smile to my face. It’s truly the little things in life that matter, and Chick-Fil-A continues to incorporate that fact in their business and manners.
I fell in LOVE with Chick-Fil-A during my junior year in high school when my class was required to have an internship for three weeks. With the help from my math teacher, I was set up to work at the headquarters in Atlanta in the Advertising and Marketing department. I had an experience of a lifetime. It was such a treat for me because I was able to eat on the job, and obvs did it! From the endless ice dream machine, to the samples of new recipes being cooked up daily, my love for the food grew. Today, I ALWAYS order the number FIVE, EIGHT pack with a Dr. Pepper. Sauces? Yes please. Three Chick-Fil-A and two BBQ. My mouth is watering as I am typing, but unfortunately it’s a Sunday and Chick-Fil-A’s are ALL closed. I guess there’s always tomorrow?
For all you LOVERS out there, or soon to be ones…there are several Chick-Fil-A’s in the FW area. My personal favorite, with Brenda, is off of Hulen, right next to the Central Market. BUT, rumor has it…there’s a NEW Chick-Fil-A opening right on 7th street! Hello hello hello! You better believe it I’ll be there opening day.

Voluspa Candles

As the week has gone by, the topic of my second blog was constantly on my mind. I wondered…what are some of my favorite things? It is such a simple question but when addressed, my mind often went blank. I began to look around my room and think of times when I am the happiest, and I knew immediately what it would be. Voluspa Candles are one of my ULTIMATE favorite things. Hands down.
If the name isn’t ringing a bell, just think of its trademark tin circular container with decorative, funky, and classy prints on them. These candles are EVERYWHERE. The next time you are strolling through Central Market, shopping at Anthropologie, or sitting in the waiting room of a local spa…open your eyes and take a look around. You will be amazed at how many scents, sizes, and the designs of the tins there are! Voluspa Candles scent selection ranges from earthy, fruity, and floral scents. Voluspa’s names are creative, unique, and intriguing. Burmese Rosewood, Champaca Bloom & Fern, French Cade & Lavender, and Fleurs de Fete are only the beginning! Although you have the ability to buy the candles online, I personally believe in smelling them out before you buy so it is an ABSOLUTE MUST to do so. With all the scents, you will have to contain yourself from buying them all!
Voluspa is a luxury candle, but without the price tag. These delightful candles have a long burning time, and enhance the room with intoxicating, sensual and enticing scents. From personal experience, every time I walk into my bedroom I immediately smell my French Cade & Lavender candle…by far one of my favorites…even when it hasn’t been burning. Just the presence of the candle fills the room with its addicting smell. The fact that a candle can simply, and immediately relax me is impressive enough. When I do in fact burn the candle, I enjoy it for hours without worrying that wax will drip onto a table or with the worry that it will run out. These candles last me months.
Voluspa Candles are perfect for everyone of your girlfriends, bride-to-be, or a Christmas present for your boyfriend’s family…or hey, even just a little happy for yourself! It is the perfect little thing to add to a lazy Sunday in bed, a relaxing bath after a hard day at work, or even while you are working on homework. Did I mention these candles are perfect? I recently tried them out for myself about a year ago and have been obsessed! They are amazing, and I always have at least one in my room. In order to find out you’ll just have to buy them yourself…so go ahead and do it, I dare you!

Burger House Seasoning Salt

Since 2002, Oprah Winfrey’s most watched episode is her very own Oprah’s Favorite Things. This episode is a surprise to all, due to the fact that producers do not reveal which episode is THE ONE. With the reveal, the lucky audience screams, cries, and jumps up and down like a kid on Christmas morning. Those who watch the show on their couch are glued to the TV and are green with envy…one of them being me. This past year, for Oprah’s final season of her hit talk show, she surprised hundreds of audience members with not one…but two episodes! These episodes will forever be remembered as Oprah’s ULTIMATE Favorite Things.
I decided to kick start this 2011 year off with my very own…Liz’s Ultimate Favorite Things. I will not be jumping out of an oversized box, reveal a hidden dress, or have UPS elves hand out my favorite things, but instead blog. As I think about my favorite things, there are so many that go through my mind. The biggest question is where to begin? As I blog about my favorite things, I hope to share yummy treats, ultimate gadgets, and other surprises that you will not be able to keep your hands off of.
One of my absolute favorite things is one that I keep in my kitchen cabinet, in my car, and even in my purse. Yes you heard that right, my purse. Burger House seasoning salt is the ultimate MUST. It is a secret recipe that is sprinkled onto Burger House’s own hamburgers, cheeseburgers and Jack’s famous fries. It will forever be a secret recipe but more recently, Burger House has allowed its loyal customers to bring the seasoning home. This seasoning is the perfect mix of salt, pepper, garlic powder, and more secret ingredients not known to the public. It is known that Burger House is “famous since 1951 for our season salt.”
As I am typing, my mouth is beginning to water just thinking about this seasoning. Unfortunately, I am comfortable on my couch watching Sex and The City, but I might make a little trip over to the Big D…meaning Dallas…to taste the seasoning for myself. Fortunately though, I have four bottles within my reach so when I am unable to travel more than 10 minutes, I can have the Burger House atmosphere and taste right at home! The best thing about this seasoning is that you can put it on EVERYTHING. Home cooked burgers, grilled chicken, and Chick-Fil-A french fries are only the beginning. Obsessed is an understatement with the relationship between the seasoning and me. The seasoning is kept in my car and purse so while I’m out, if I order fries at Chick-Fil-A, Aardvark, or Whataburger, they will not be naked or sprinkled with salt, but with Burger House seasoning.
Burger House has many convenient locations in the Texas area including five locations in Dallas, one in Plano, and one in Rockwall. If you are unable to travel to the restaurant, don’t worry because the seasoning is available online. Go ahead and taste it for yourself!!
